In May 2022, Shared Lands held the first of three workshops designed to support grassroots peace advocates in northern Kenya in building environmental peace.

In 2021, we concluded data collection for our research on grassroots environmental peacebuilding. In this blog, we highlight key preliminary findings identified by the Environmental Fellows involved in the research and initial round of data analysis.

Shared Lands is implementing a participatory action research project to better understand the relationship between the environment and conflict and peace in northern Kenya. This blog introduces the project and discusses early findings from Kom – a conflict ‘hotspot’ on the border of Isiolo and Samburu.
